Broward is a county of beach cities, and almost every one of them runs its own vacation rental license. Why Broward County

Port Everglades, the county’s cruise port, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport sit side by side between Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and Dania Beach, so cruise passengers and air travelers are a constant source of bookings. Local vs. national

The Broward County advantage: local knowledge at every level

A national platform prices Broward County from a spreadsheet and sends whoever is free to turn the unit. We work it address by address: which city or county code applies, which tax accounts the stay needs, and our own cleaning and maintenance staff on every turnover, with guests able to reach us 24/7.

Regulatory compliance

Broward County short-term rental rules

Short-term rental rules in Broward are set city by city. Fort Lauderdale requires registration, a certificate of compliance, an annual inspection and a noise monitor; Hollywood and Hallandale Beach require annual city vacation rental licenses; Pompano Beach requires an annual permit for any rental of six months or less; Deerfield Beach requires registration renewed every October 1. Dania Beach prohibits vacation rentals of fewer than five consecutive days in homes of up to four units, and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea requires at least seven days in single-family homes and townhouses. City applications ask for the state DBPR license, a Broward County business tax receipt and a Broward County tourist development tax account.

Always confirm the latest rules with the relevant local authority before listing — we'll point you to exactly what applies to your property.

Common questions

Broward County STR management — FAQs

What tourist tax applies to vacation rentals in Broward County?

Broward County levies a 6% tourist development tax on rentals of six months or less, and DOR form DR-15TDT lists it as collected by the county rather than the state. Guests also pay Florida’s 6% sales tax and Broward’s 1% discretionary sales surtax, which DOR form DR-15DSS lists through 2048.

Does Broward County have one short-term rental permit for the whole county?

No. Each city runs its own program, and the requirements differ: Fort Lauderdale issues certificates of compliance, Hollywood and Hallandale Beach issue vacation rental licenses, Pompano Beach issues short-term rental permits and Deerfield Beach registers rentals. City applications generally require proof of a Broward County business tax receipt and a Broward County tourist development tax account.

Which Broward cities set a minimum stay for vacation rentals?

Dania Beach prohibits vacation rentals of fewer than five consecutive days in single-family homes and two- to four-unit buildings. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea requires at least seven consecutive days in single-family homes and townhouses, with no minimum for duplexes and three- or four-unit buildings. Pompano Beach does not set a minimum, but its permit covers every rental of six months or less.
